I was diagnosed with what the doctors call Triple Negative Cancer. These subtypes of breast cancer are generally diagnosed based upon the presence, or lack of, three “receptors” known to fuel most breast cancers: estrogen receptors, progesterone receptors and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2). The most successful treatments for breast cancer target these receptors. Unfortunately, none of these receptors are found in women with triple negative breast cancer. In other words, a triple negative breast cancer diagnosis means that the offending tumor is estrogen receptor-negative, progesterone receptor-negative and HER2-negative, thus giving rise to the name “triple negative breast cancer.” Triple negative breast cancer can be extremely aggressive and more likely to recur and metastasize than other subtypes of breast cancer. Although it can be more difficult to treat because it is unresponsive to the most effective receptor targeted treatments, it is typically responsive to chemotheraphy. I chose to have a masectomy followed by chemotheraphy as well as radiation which reduces the chances of reoccurrences.Currently, I am part of a trial study which uses Avastin as a treatment.
My interests mostly include non-physical activities. However, I endure from time to time with a little exercising. I love reading almost anything, especially books on the Oprah reading list, leadership and spiritual books. I also enjoy going to the movies whenever the opportunity presents itself which has been few and far between. Additionally, I have just celebrated four years of owning my event planning business. It is quite fulfilling, and I make just enough money to spend on my grandchildren without blowing my savings.
The most recent books I read were just this past weekend. “I’m in love with a younger man” and “Holy Ghost Corner”. Yes I read them both over the weekend. Who knows what I’ll read next. I just like reading
I love Gospel, Jazz, R&B and some Hip/Hop
I havent been able to go the movies much lately. But the most recent movie that I think should get it props is “The Secret Life of Bees”. If you get a chance read the book too
Honest and trustworththy people
The reason I wanted to be a part of this site is to be able to share my experience but hopefully to be here as a support for those who are just starting their journey

I am the proud mother of three wonderful children, my oldest being a handsome young man at 25 years of age and two extremely beautiful girls (taking after their mom, of course) who are 21 and 19 years old. I also have a 26 year old stepson from my previous marriage and a wonderful 6-year old grandson named Jeremiah (I refer to him Nana’s Boo-Boo). Although I was not initially thrilled at the idea of being a “Nana,” I am enjoying it quite a bit now. My stepson made me a Nana to the second power with a baby girl named J’niah who’s truly beautiful and topped it off with a set of twins, Jada and Jayden.
