My Experience with Cancer

I know cancer a little to well. One of my closest experiences with Cancer includes my cousin, and best friend ever, Ashley who fought cancer (brain tumor) till the end, but had a reaction to a large dose of chemo and didn’t make it through her recovery after a stem cell transplant back in 2003. The bright side is that because of what happened to her, other childrens lives were saved because the doctor’s then knew how to treat that certain type of reaction, which they didn’t know before.

Then, of course there is Josh, one of the most amazing cancer survivors out there! “Ain’t nothing gonna break my stride
Nobody gonna slow me down, oh no I got to keep on moving” …and that’s how I feel about Josh.

My mom was also diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma back in 2003, beat it, and is doing great today. My grandmother was also diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer a few times, the doctor thought it would have come back by now but she is still kickin’ it Cancer Free today! We have a lot of fighters in my family!

Hobbies

Laying out in the sun, Dancing, Listening to music, pretty much just being outside on a nice day doing anything is fun to me.

I am currently reading “The Five People You Meet In Heaven.”

I like all music except Country, not a big fan.

I have many names to many different people including Missy, misstickle, Melba (toast), Miss…oddly enough, noone in Orlando throughout all my years of college called me by my actual name “Melissa”, but it’s cool, I answer to just about anything. Now I live in Jackonville, FL where I grew up, close to most of my friends and fam!
